Title: “True West”
“It’s not a film, it’s a movie.”
Hi, I’m Erica Mer from Actors Entertainment, welcome to Thespian Thoughts, for theater reviews. I highly recommend the attendance of Sam Shepard’s “True West,” a fantastic and witty play at the Whitmore Eclectic Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
“The late James Whitmore put the finishing touches on his dream and legacy, The Whitmore Eclectic Theater.” This theater is located in Los Angeles, CA and housed the production with an intimate and comfortable environment. The talented Sam Shepard wrote the play, while Aliah Whitmore directed. Both Shepard and Whitmore put together a story that is both clever and relatable. In addition, the acting in “True West” was extremely strong. From this, the audience can engage with the characters, with both drama and humor.
The two lead actors in “True West,” Andre Verderame and Andrew Patton play brothers who find themselves under the same roof after years apart. Now as a girl, it was funny to watch a story about two men with lots of testosterone and constantly yell and fight. However, this is allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone and really enjoy the distinction between men and women. “True West was comical, and both actors did an excellent job of feeding off one another. I left the theater happily pleased with “True West.”
I highly recommend the attendance of Sam Shepard’s “True West” at the Whitmore Eclectic Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
True West plays Thursdays through Sundays until October 3rd. For performance show times and ticket info, visit whitemoreeclectic.com.
