Welcome to Thespian Thoughts, for theater reviews.

“The change we most lament is from the best; The worst returns to laughter. Welcome, then.”
This expert was written by the profound Sir. William Shakespeare, in the tragedy of “King Lear.” The award winning Actors Co-Op in Hollywood, CA presents “King Lear.” The production of “King Lear” is put together perfectly with its story-telling, acting, and overall ambiance.

The disastrous story of “King Lear” brings together a mixture of heroism, greed, love, and heartbreak. Director Marianne Savell does an outstanding job bringing the key elements to retell a classic story. The directing goes hand in hand with the performer’s acting.

Shakespearean is complex to follow, let alone recite. After every word is delivered, the listeners admire the brilliance beyond Shakespeare’s writing. In “King Lear,” the performers speak as their characters do, scene by scene.

Bruce Ladd takes on the difficult role of King Lear. Ladd does a wonderful job conveying all emotions; from heroic to absolutely mad. His wide range of emotions is truly captivating to watch on stage.

The production of “King Lear” should not be missed. I do reiterate that the whole play is spoken in Shakespearean and may be difficult to understand, but that should be no problem. Although there were times I did not understand the dialogue, I enjoyed myself thoroughly. “King Lear” is a great story, with fantastic writing, admirable acting and overall superb production team. What else needs to be said?
